Meet the NM Insurance Captain Awards winners

The NM Insurance Captain Awards were created in recognition of our insurance broker partners who embody excellence, expertise, authenticity, and integrity.

This year’s inaugural winners include Brookvale Insurance Brokers (NSW), Crombie Lockwood (New Zealand-wide), Pelagic Risk Services (NSW), Helm Insurance Services (QLD), and Safeguard Insurance Solutions (WA). We caught up with the winners to get their thoughts on receiving an NM Insurance Captain Award.

Congratulations on winning one of the inaugural NM Insurance Captain Awards. How does it feel to be recognised with this award?

Denise – “It’s nice to understand we are doing something right. People love to point out the negatives but it’s not every day you get recognised in such a positive way like this award.”

The NM Insurance Captain Award concept is based around recognising broker partners who consistently display NM Insurance’s values and traits. These include putting our customers first, building respect and trust through integrity and reliability, being results driven, working as one team and having a commitment to learning and growth. Do you see alignment between these values and your own company values and ethos?

Craig – “There’s definitely alignment, especially with consistency and integrity. Our business is built on trust and reputation which takes a long time to build up. If you get these things wrong that reputation can be taken away pretty quickly.”

How would you sum up your experience of working with NM Insurance and the relationships you have built with our team?

Craig – “We have a trusted partnership and a collaborative approach to business. It is always great that we can pick up the phone and talk to the experts with confidence.”

Congratulations on winning one of the inaugural NM Insurance Captain Awards. How does it feel to be recognised with this award?

“Firstly, thank you for recognising my work with NM Insurance through this award. I am honoured to receive it and very proud of the partnership between our two organisations. I was deeply humbled when Lyndon [Turner – CEO, NM Insurance] and Lianne [Waru – NZ Manager, NM Insurance] informed me that I was one of the inaugural recipients of the NM Insurance Captain Awards. Having spent a lot of my childhood around boats – thanks to my father Ken – I have a strong connection to the sea and water-based sports. Therefore, this award is quite special to me.”

“At Crombie Lockwood, our values form the backbone of our culture and guide us on how we interact with each other and our clients. This includes doing the right thing, being bold to make success happen, and knowing that we’re stronger together when we operate as one team. Our client-care principles are how we deliver great outcomes – for our clients, our business and our profession. As you can already see, our values resonate strongly with NM Insurance’s own values and traits. This synergy reflects in how the two organisations work individually and together as partners, delivering the highest standards of professionalism and performance across our businesses and great outcomes for clients.”

How would you sum up your experience of working with NM Insurance and the relationships you have built with our team?

“I genuinely enjoy working with NM Insurance as they have a great risk appetite and are so in touch with the market, both professionally and personally. Additionally, their 24/7 online portal is one of the best in the market. I love doing business with like-minded people and Lyndon [Turner], Lianne [Waru], and Glen [Schembri – Head of Client and Market Development, NM Insurance] exemplify this. They are always available and are easy to deal with. To Lianne’s absolute credit, all our brokers know that they can ring her at any time, and they make the most of that opportunity!

Simply put, I deal with great people at NM Insurance who have a real interest in pleasurecraft and the marine insurance sector in general. Onwards and upwards NM Insurance!”

“I am gobsmacked and feel very humbled. There are a lot of great brokers who work with NM Insurance and I am very proud to be recognised with this award.”

Do you see alignment between these values and your own company values and ethos?

“Yes, I do. It is a two-way street, and a broker is only as good as the insurance agency they are using. NM Insurance is a quality provider of insurance solutions.”

How would you sum up your experience of working with NM Insurance and the relationships you have built with our team?

“NM Insurance take the time to understand the client’s risk. This is appreciated as it’s a tailored, one-on-one approach vs a bucket mentality. It is a great relationship between broker/insurance agency which reflects down to the policy holder.”

“I am shocked, honoured, and appreciative to be recognised for this award. It is very special to be recognised for how we go about conducting business.”

“Great! You can call the people you want to deal with and get an answer. This is reflective on the way we deal with our clients.”
