The NM Report

Welcome to the latest edition of The NM Report.

Welcome to

The NM Report
April 2025

As you’ll see in this latest edition, we’re continuing to enhance our systems, training practices, and product offerings. We’re also back on the road, attending industry shows, supporting our brands, and strengthening relationships with both new and existing business partners.

National Motorcycle Insurance is proud to return as the Official Insurance Partner of Transmoto Enduro Events in 2025. Transmoto’s 8-Hour event season has just kicked off and the team and I are excited to attend these epic weekend events and meet members of the dirt bike community.

Finally, with Easter and ANZAC Day right around the corner, let’s ensure that first time buyers and those upgrading their assets are given the assistance they require, allowing them the possibility to secure coverage before heading off to enjoy their new pride and joy.

Introduction to Training Process

Quoting platforms, compliance, product, payments

As we move forward into 2025, you will start to see updates to both our quoting platform and products. With these enhancements, updated online training will be required to ensure everyone remains informed and competent in distributing our products within the dealer and finance broker space.

The first set of updates will focus on caravan products, with enhancements to both the product itself and the quoting platform. This will be followed by updates to motorcycle training, and finally, marine training.

As conduct and customer outcomes continues to play a crucial role in our operations, new training modules have also been developed to support the use of the quoting platform and Arteva premium funding functions.

Keep an eye on your inbox over the coming weeks and months as we roll out these new training programs across the network.

National Motorcycle Insurance & Transmoto: Another Year of Epic Enduro Action!

We’re excited to share that National Motorcycle Insurance is back for another year as a proud partner of the Transmoto Enduro Events! These epic multi-hour endurance races bring together riders of all skill levels, with some events dedicated to female and junior racers, for an unforgettable experience of dirt, teamwork, and adventure.

With events running across NSW, QLD, and VIC, Transmoto is the perfect mix of competitive racing and social riding—whether you’re in it to win or just looking for an excuse to get muddy with mates. If you or your customers are into enduro riding, this is a series worth checking out.

Want to get involved? If any of our dealership partners are keen to enter a team or learn more about the series, we’d be happy to assist. Reach out, and we can help point you in the right direction for registrations and event details.

For more details on upcoming events, visit events.transmoto.com.au and start planning your next off-road adventure!

We look forward to seeing some of you out there—just don’t forget to pack a decent level of fitness and a great sense of humor!

Industry Events

Caravan show / Jayco Gala

It is that time of the year again and the caravan show season is well underway, kicking off in late February with the Newcastle Show, followed by Melbourne and Adelaide. NM Insurance has attended these events and will also be present at the upcoming Perth, Sydney, and Brisbane shows. If you’re attending and need support, please reach out to your local state BDM.

Jayco Australia is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In early March, they hosted a Gala event and awards night, which we were fortunate to attend.

Each year, NM Insurance presents two awards, one for the dealership with the most policies written and another for the dealership with the highest strike rate (policies written to units sold).

This year, Brisbane Camperland won the Policies Written Award, and Jayco Orange took home the Strike Rate Award. A big congratulations to both dealerships and thank you for your continued efforts and dedication!

National Motorcycle Insurance Partners with Ulysses Club!

We’re thrilled to announce that National Motorcycle Insurance has entered a three-year sponsorship agreement with the Ulysses Club – one of Australia’s longest-standing and most respected motorcycle communities.

As passionate supporters of the riding community, we believe in giving back to the people who make motorcycling such an incredible lifestyle. Partnering with Ulysses allows us to support their members and ensure they continue to enjoy the open road with confidence.

To kick things off, we’ll be attending the 2025 Ulysses National Rally in Armidale, with our BDMs Peter Mant and Sam Palmiotto representing National Motorcycle Insurance.

We’re looking forward to engaging with Ulysses Club members over the coming years and strengthening our connection with the community. More updates to come soon!

Important Updates

On the journey with you for 20 years

NM Insurance is celebrating our 20th anniversary year in 2025, and we’re proud to have been on the journey with our dealer partners throughout this time. NM Insurance has grown and diversified over the last two decades, and we’ve embraced new products, partnerships and opportunities along the way.

Today NM Insurance encompasses nine specialist insurance brands, with our team of over 100 staff working across five offices across Australia and New Zealand. Most recently, we expanded our Australian operations with the opening of new offices in Victoria and Western Australia. These new facilities joined our established locations in Sydney, Auckland and Brisbane, and reflect our ongoing commitment to providing outstanding local service and support to our partners and customers. As we reflect on our 20th anniversary and look forward to the future, we’d like to take a moment to thank our dealer partners for their continued support as we continue to grow on the journey together.

Important Updates

Easters/Anzac trading hours

As we approach the Easter holidays, we would like to update our dealer partners on our holiday trading hours. We’re pleased to confirm that NM Insurance offices will only be closed on the three seasonal public holidays—Good Friday, Easter Monday, and Anzac Day (Friday). Our dedicated customer service team will be available to support you and our mutual customers on all other weekdays throughout this period.

NM Insurance Holiday Trading Hours

  • Good Friday, 18th April – Closed
  • Easter Monday, 21st April – Closed
  • Anzac Day, Friday 25th April – Closed
  • All other weekdays – Normal trading hours (8:30 AM – 6:30 PM AEDT)

During this period, the majority of our BDMs will be available during normal business hours. If your local BDM is unavailable due to leave, their voicemail will provide the contact details of an alternative representative who can assist in their absence.

Compliance Corner

Risk reminder: The importance of the consumer duty not to make a misrepresentation

Before a contract of insurance is entered into, we ask a potential customer a range of questions that are relevant to our decision about whether to offer them insurance and if so, on what terms and conditions.

When answering our questions, the potential customer has a legal duty to take reasonable care not to make a misrepresentation to us.

The consequences of making a misrepresentation could be significant for an insured as it could result in:

  • A claim not being paid in full;
  • A claim being rejected entirely; or
  • A policy being cancelled and/or treated as if it never existed.

Because of this, the law requires us to warn potential customers about their duty and the potential consequences of non-compliance. We must do this before asking our standard underwriting questions.

If we don’t warn someone about their duty:

  • We break the law; and
  • We may lose our right to take action following a misrepresentation.

After telling the customer about their duty, it’s critical that a customer is asked and provides answers in their own words, to all of our underwriting questions. This means you should never pre-fill answers to questions, or provide answers on a customer’s behalf.

As we continue to operate in a heavily regulated industry and environment, please continue to keep the above duty and its potential consequences front of mind. Always follow the Distributor Sales Procedures when discussing and arranging insurance for your customers.

Have a compliance question?

If you have any questions about the above or any other compliance-related issues, please reach out to your local BDM. They’ll be happy to consult with our Legal & Compliance Team and provide assistance or guidance where required.

How we can help

How our BDMs can assist you and your business

All our state-based BDMs at NM Insurance have extensive experience in the retail space. The majority of us have previously worked as Finance Business Managers in dealerships, with some team members also having experience with finance brokers. Additionally, many of us have worked for other insurers and finance companies, where we received extensive training—just as we do here at NM Insurance.

This is a reminder that our team has the expertise to support you and your business with your sales processes, should you require it. As we head into what will hopefully be a busy period leading into the Easter break, please don’t hesitate to reach out for assistance.
